A beautiful – and I mean stunning – day unexpectedly arrived. With the children keen to get outside, and us keen to sit drinking good coffee, where to go? The Rockpool was the ideal choice. With huge, huge, huge skies above, plenty of outdoor seating and proximity to a dog-friendly beach, it’s position is ideal…and there are always plenty of ‘new friends’ to make while waiting for lunch.
Along with the promise of a roam around on Gwithian beach afterwards the dogs were more than enough to keep the children occupied. We like the Rockpool. It’s a cool surfer shack set amongst the Towans. Perfect in the evening, when we can sip a slow glass of Sauvignon and play chess while the sun sets, glimpses of the sea in the distance and an American-desert sized sky above (did I mention the sky? It’s big!). We also like the Rockpool when we’re too lazy to cook; the children’s menu is simple, good value and the meals actually get eaten… So off we went last Sunday. Feeling the sun on my face after a week inside Meta was gorgeous. And we met two chocolate labs, a tiny French bulldog puppy, a few friendly mutts…and an albino crow called Polaris, a rescue crow who travels everywhere with his people, slathered in Factor 50! therockpoolbar.co.uk
